Why the Hell Are You Still Eating Animals? from Agatha Borecki

"It’s hard to talk about eating animals without getting defensive, angry, sad and judgmental. I feel it. You feel it. So let’s all, you and me both, take a step back, take a deep breath and look at what is really going on here.......

Animals in the food industry can be legally slaughtered in a variety of ways including carbon dioxide, electrical current, inert gas, gunshot and captive bolt pistol.........if people saw the reality of what goes on in any slaughterhouse, chances are they wouldn’t be so quick to proclaim that one method of slaughter was better than another. Whether by captive bolt or a knife to the throat, slaughter is slaughter, and the animals on the assembly line are still forced to endure the same fear and terror as they await their inevitable death.

I know life is hard enough. There’s so much to think about and manage and so many things we work hard for and feel like we deserve. But what happens when getting what you want comes with a great big bad toll? Is it worth it then to turn a blind eye?"
